I’ve noticed on my morning walks with Louis around the neighbourhood that the air is starting to cool down!!
I thought I’d share a few trends that I absolutely love for Autumn this year, after trawling Pinterest and some of the magazines I subscribe to lately to try to predict what I want the team to be sourcing for projects…
Pantone’s 2025 colour of the year: Mocha Mousse
I don’t often pay a ton of attention to the Pantone colours of the year beyond the month it’s announced in. However, Pantone’s Mocha Mousse is a rich, earthy tone that immediately evokes feelings of warmth and comfort for autumn, and I’m seeing it everywhere now that it’s cooling down.. I am absolutely in love with how versatile this colour is—whether it’s being used on walls, furniture, or accents, it creates a cosy, inviting atmosphere perfect for the autumn season. We used it in the wallpaper choice we selected a few years ago, in this beautiful city apartment makeover we did for a client.

Banquet seating in your residential home
Next up, let’s talk about one of my absolute favourite seating trends for the season: banquet seating. While we’ve all seen this chic booth-style seating in cafés and restaurants, it’s now making its way into residential homes, and I think we’ve designed them into every single residential design project we’ve worked on this year so far. I wish I’d been able to build one into my eat-in kitchen, but alas, I needed to make space for an internal laundry more than I needed a banquette seat (waaa).
Whether you’re designing a kitchen nook or a dedicated dining space, banquet seating brings a unique, café-style vibe to the home. It’s not only stylish but functional too! These banquettes offer ample seating space, perfect for larger families or those who love entertaining. I can already picture a warm, stylish corner with soft cushions, a wood dining table, and friends gathering for a lively dinner or a quiet morning coffee. It’s a design trend that feels both timeless and trendy at the same time, and I think it’s going to be a staple in many homes this fall.

Antique finishes
Lastly, let’s talk about one of my favourite design elements making waves in 2025—antique finishes. In my eyes, design is all about celebrating homes with characters and stories. It’s about mixing old with new, and no detail is too small when it comes to adding personality. Tapware, in particular, is seeing a shift towards aged brass and antique-inspired finishes, which I love, and we’re seeing it more and more with the new metal finishes our reps bring to show us from a bunch of the well-known tapware and door hardware suppliers.
These vintage-inspired finishes bring a sense of timelessness to modern spaces. I love how they can completely elevate a bathroom or kitchen, giving it a lived-in, welcoming vibe. Antique brass taps or aged copper fixtures offer an understated elegance, and when paired with natural stone or deep wood tones, they create a stunning contrast that’s both luxurious and homely.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about these trends as much as I’ve enjoyed exploring them!
